Our Programs
A skill learned, a habit formed, a group that finally has a bank account — none of these look dramatic on their own. Put together, across a few years, they change what's possible in a village. Here's what we're building, one batch and one camp at a time.
Earning a steady income shouldn't require leaving Rajapalayam. The Academy runs short, practical training batches — taught by working professionals from the same trade — so participants walk away with a usable skill, a starter toolkit where possible, and a clear next step.
Batches run for 4–8 weeks in small groups of 20–25, completely free of cost. Machines and material are provided during the course, and we run evening batches for anyone already working part-time.
School gives children a timetable. It doesn't always give them a quiet place to study, someone to ask "why" to, or a reason to feel curious about a laptop. Our Community Learning Centres aim to be that — free, after-school spaces run with trained local volunteers.
Each centre combines homework support with two things often missing in rural classrooms: regular spoken-English practice, and hands-on time with a computer — alongside a small, growing lending library.
Self-help groups have changed lives across Tamil Nadu — when they're run well. GROWIN helps women form new SHGs and strengthens existing ones, focusing on the basics that make a group last: regular savings habits, simple bookkeeping, and clear roles.
Beyond savings, we help groups connect to relevant government schemes, find peer mentors in better-established SHGs nearby, and explore small enterprise ideas — including market-linkage support for products made by graduates of our Skill Academy.
A health problem caught early is a small thing. Caught late, it can undo years of a family's progress. We organise regular camps — basic check-ups, eye screening and awareness sessions — run with volunteer doctors and paramedical staff from the region.
Every camp includes a referral pathway to the nearest government hospital or Primary Health Centre for anything that needs follow-up, and a short awareness session on a rotating topic: nutrition, hygiene, maternal health or common lifestyle conditions.
Rajapalayam sits in the shadow of the Western Ghats — but like much of Tamil Nadu, its tree cover and water table have come under real pressure. Green Rajapalayam is our attempt to do something about it, with the people who live here.
We focus on native species and an actual aftercare plan — a sapling planted and forgotten helps no one. Alongside plantation drives, we run waste segregation awareness in schools and street-level groups, and periodic clean-up drives at local tanks and ponds.
This is the program that makes GROWIN different from a typical welfare trust. Many SHGs, temple welfare committees, school alumni associations and youth clubs around Rajapalayam are doing real work — but miss out on funding, recognition or basic efficiency because of gaps that are genuinely easy to fix.
We run free, half-day workshops covering exactly those gaps — in plain Tamil and English, with worksheets your group can keep and reuse. No group is too small, and there's no obligation to partner with GROWIN afterward.
