About GROWIN
Families who need a practical hand up, and the small community groups working to give them one. GROWIN exists at the intersection of welfare and organisational development — because in our experience, the two have always been the same problem.
Why GROWIN, why now
GROWIN was registered in 2025 by R. Murugesan after years of watching the same two problems repeat across villages around Rajapalayam. The name is meant to be read simply — grow in — grow in skill, grow in confidence, grow in the ability to help others. Whatever stage a person or a group is at, there's room to grow in with us.
First: families who wanted to earn more, often had the willingness but not the access — to a tailoring machine, a computer, a health check-up, or simply someone to explain a government scheme in plain Tamil.
Second: the self-help groups, temple welfare committees and youth associations already doing good work in these villages were frequently held back by very fixable things — no bank account in the group's name, no record book, no idea how to apply for a grant or even register formally.
GROWIN was set up to work on both — practical programs for individuals and families, and a free "Org & Capacity Lab" for the groups that serve them.

To help individuals, families and small community organisations in and around Rajapalayam build the practical skills, support systems and confidence to improve their own circumstances — sustainably, and on their own terms.
A Rajapalayam where every willing learner has access to a useful skill, every family can reach basic welfare and health support nearby, and every grassroots group has the organisational footing to grow on its own.
How we hold ourselves
We design programs people opt into and feel proud of attending — not ones that make anyone feel like a case file.
Local trainers, local venues, local languages. Outside experts where needed — but the village should recognise itself in every program.
Funds, attendance and outcomes get recorded honestly and shared — on our transparency page and with anyone who asks.
We'd rather run three programs well in three villages than ten programs thinly across thirty. Depth first, then width.

Founder & Managing Trustee
R. Murugesan founded GROWIN in 2025 after spending years working closely with community groups across Rajapalayam taluk — helping with everything from event coordination to sorting out paperwork for small organisations that didn't know where to start. That experience shaped GROWIN's dual focus: direct welfare programs for families, and an "Org & Capacity Lab" that hands those same organisational basics on to other local groups.

Registration details
Governance
GROWIN is governed as a Public Charitable Trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, with its registered office at Dharmapuram, Rajapalayam. The Managing Trustee holds day-to-day responsibility for programs, finances and reporting.
As GROWIN grows, we plan to formally induct additional trustees and an advisory committee drawn from local educators, healthcare volunteers and SHG leaders — keeping decision-making close to the communities we work with.
Applications for 12A and 80G registration (which allow donors to claim tax exemption under the Income Tax Act) are in process. This page will be updated the moment they're approved — see our Donate section for the current status.
